Anthropic is working on a system to prove AI models’ identity
Anthropic announced yesterday they're building a proof system for LLM inference—a way to cryptographically verify that a specific model actually generated a specific output, and that the model is who it claims to be.
Before: Right now, when your compliance team asks "which AI model processed this customer request?", you're trusting logs. When a trading desk needs to prove an AI recommendation came from an audited, approved model version, they're showing screenshots. When your risk officer asks if the production model matches the one you validated six months ago, you're showing configuration files that anyone with admin access could've changed.
That works until it doesn't. And in regulated environments—where we spend most of our time at QikAI—"trust me, the logs are fine" stops working the moment something goes wrong.
After: Provable inference changes the contract. You get a cryptographic receipt that binds input, output, model version, and inference parameters. Your model signs its work. An auditor can verify, six months later, that this exact response came from that exact model state—not a different version, not a human pretending to be the model, not a compromised system claiming to run approved code.
Bridge: The path from here to there isn't just adopting Anthropic's system when it ships. It's recognizing that AI governance can't rest on log files and good intentions anymore. If your AI agent is making credit decisions, approving claims, or trading securities, "we think this is the model that ran" won't satisfy APRA CPS 230's accountability requirements or your Chief Risk Officer's questions after an incident.
Production-ready AI architecture now includes proof of execution in the design, not as an afterthought.
Does your current AI stack give you anything stronger than logs to prove what actually happened?
