Samsung Galaxy Takes Centre Stage as Title Sponsor of the 2026 Content Creator Awards

By Amplyfy · October 21, 2026

The Financial Times ran a letter today defending the creator economy against claims of "excess." The timing matters—because while brands and platforms finally take creators seriously, the old guard still frames it as frivolous.

The Problem: Legacy institutions treat creator work as less legitimate than traditional career paths.

At Amplyfy, we see fractional CMOs and ex-consultants wrestle with this daily. They've built practices on LinkedIn, generated real pipeline through content, then face skepticism when they call themselves "creators." The label carries baggage—associated with unboxing videos and sponsorship deals, not strategic thought leadership.

Why this persists: The definition of "creator" got captured by consumer platforms, not B2B.

When Samsung sponsors a Content Creator Awards (announced this week) and Unilever invests in the creator economy (also this week), the archetype reinforced is lifestyle and entertainment. Meanwhile, the Principal Engineer publishing architecture breakdowns or the fractional CFO sharing SaaS metrics frameworks gets no category. Their work generates leads, builds authority, and advances careers—but the ecosystem lumps them into the same bucket as influencers.

The shift required: B2B professionals need to reclaim "thought leadership" from its stuffy associations and reject "creator" when it diminishes expertise.

You're not making content for views. You're documenting expertise that generates consulting offers, board seats, and speaking engagements. That's a different discipline with different metrics.

The letter defending creators makes a valid point about economic contribution. But for the audience building authority in SaaS, the real work is separating signal from noise—publishing frameworks, not hot takes; building pipeline, not follower counts.

Where do you draw the line between thought leadership and content creation in your own work?
