âš¡ Breaking - Anthropic eyes November IPO, putting spotlight on S. Korea's SK Telecom

📰 BREAKING

SK Telecom's strategic stake in Anthropic just got a lot more interesting. The AI lab is eyeing a November IPO, which would make SKT one of the few telecom operators with a direct equity position in a frontier model company heading to public markets.

This isn't about a carrier dabbling in AI partnerships. SKT now sits at the intersection of three capital-intensive bets: mobile infrastructure, compute distribution, and model development. If the IPO lands at the rumored valuation range, it validates a playbook we've seen brewing across Asia — telcos treating AI infrastructure as a natural extension of their network assets, not a side experiment.

The timing matters. Regulated markets are still working out how AI monetization flows through existing telco business models. SKT just bought itself a front-row seat to that answer, with balance sheet upside if Anthropic's enterprise traction holds.
