SK Telecom just closed a $2.23B deal with KKR — and made telecom infrastructure an AI compute play.
The spin: a new entity, SK Horizon, now Asia's largest telco-backed hyperscale AI data center operator. KKR and Korean PE took 49%, SK keeps 51% and the customer base.
The signal: telcos with real estate, power, and capex muscle are becoming the picks-and-shovels layer for regional AI workloads.
